The lymphatic system is one of two major circulatory systems in the body. It’s primary job is to move immune cells and dead cellular debris through the body to where it can be removed or reused.  A poorly functioning lymphatic system is a risk factor for the development of cancer and other chronic diseases. While most of modern science and the allopathic medical community have spent their time researching the blood vascular system, the lymphatic system is gaining its deserved attention from the holistic community. Today, much of the 21st century research is diving deeper into understanding lymphatic system function and its dynamic role with the health of the human body.
What is the Lymphatic System? What little you may have heard about the lymphatic system is that it is comparable to drains. When there is a clog in any of the pipes at home you may1 experience an odor from the sink basin. This is where a buildup of particles such as hair and food become a breeding ground for bacteria. You regularly maintain your pipes in order to avoid a clog, but you should be paying far greater attention to your lymphatic system in doing the same.
A congested lymphatic system can lead to serious illnesses and chronic diseases which stem from a weakened immune system. A clog in your lymphatic “drains” can lead to the accumulation of toxins which the body initially tries to remove. Perhaps your symptoms of body rigidity, headaches, bloating, skin concerns, and cold extremities are actually a result of a sluggish lymphatic system that needs improving.
The following detoxification strategies can help you improve your lymphatic system function.
1. Actively Reduce StressThe following techniques may improve the flow of lymph fluid through your body by limiting both mental and physical stress on your lymphatic system:
  • Good posture
  • Stretching regularly
  • Deep breathing exercises
  • Yoga and pilates
All excellent strategies to relieve anxiety and support immune function, such practices relieve congestion and stimulate the removal of pathogens from your body.
2. ExerciseExercise may possibly be one of the most effective and easiest ways for you to improve your lymphatic system function. Exercising increases the oxygen supply to tissues and cells and stimulates blood circulation. When the body does not regularly move, toxins remain in muscle. A condition known as hypoxia in which there is a lack of oxygen to an area of the body leaves the door open for the invasion and metastasis of cancer.
A fun way to exercise is by bouncing on a mini trampoline (called a rebounder) which is often used in sports therapy to help athletes heal from injuries. This low impact exercise is called rebounding. As the body moves against gravity, the lymphatic system is stimulated to pull lymph fluid carrying toxins through the vessels and circulate.
3. Chiropractic CareThe obstruction of any anatomical structure on the thoracic cavity or upper chest region can prevent the final dumping of toxins from the lymphatic system for cleansing. The rib cage works as a major lymphatic pump which is critical for lymphatic circulation. Correcting anatomical abnormalities or displacement from everyday activities helps to promote pressure within the thoracic region which also assists to oxygenate cells.
4. HerbsHerbs are a great source which we can utilize to detoxify the lymphatic system and remove toxins. Some of the most popular herbal treatments to help the lymphatic system heal include the following:
Essential Oils: Traditional practices have used essential oils to help the body heal for centuries. The PDQ (Physician Data Query) Cancer Complementary and Alternative Medicine Editorial Board reports that essential oils stimulate healing through neuroimmunomodulation. The use of essential oils strengthens the cancer patient’s immune system by relieving anxiety and stress and improving one’s emotional response.
Milk Thistle: Milk thistle is a strong detoxification agent known to cleanse the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and kidneys, and to promote a healthy thyroid. Use milk thistle to help fight inflammation in your body to support a healthy immune system.
Essiac Tea: This herbal treatment may be recommended to patients newly diagnosed with cancer. Essiac tea detoxifies and works to heal the immune system.
Manjistha: Manjistha tea is associated with purifying the liver and blood and can help improve menstrual and skin problems while strengthening the immune system.

5. PerspirePerspiration is one of the mechanisms by which the human body eliminates toxins. Although exercise can promote perspiration, infrared saunas offer a method to circulate toxins out of organs and muscle for the removal through our pores. Infrared saunas use a non-invasive therapy which is a great alternative for those who cannot participate in vigorous activity to detoxify the body. (Note: The use of saunas is not recommended for those who have had numerous lymph nodes removed as it can increase the risk of lymphedema.)
6. Dry BrushingDry brushing aids the removal of toxins that have built up on our skin. Dry brushing involves using a coarse brush to gently be moved along the skin in the direction of the heart. This technique boosts lymph flow by stimulating sweat glands and supporting circulation below the skin.
7. Anti-Inflammatory DietConsuming a healthy diet full of healthy fats and rich in antioxidants is critical to support a healthy immune system, especially as we age. Pathogenic agents cannot thrive in alkaline environments which makes eating fresh fruits and vegetables and healthy cell-supporting fats absolutely necessary. Red foods are some of the best anti-inflammatory foods you can consume such as:
  • Cranberries, raspberries and cherries
  • Vegetables, especially beets
  • Manjistha, also known as “red root”
Lymphatic vessels exist at the site of the intestines and are easily susceptible to destruction from unhealthy diets. Maintaining a healthy gastrointestinal tract helps to ensure not only immune system healing but it also decreases your risk of developing obesity and cardiovascular disease.
8. HydrateThe lymphatic system is primarily composed of water and must be hydrated to function at the highest level. Drinking purified and mineralized water and water with antioxidant extracts such as lemon water is an excellent detoxification strategy to push toxins from the body.
Dr. John Douillard recommends a lymphatic rehydrating technique which involves sipping warm water every 15 minutes throughout the day for 2 consecutive weeks. This procedure is believed to stimulate the lymphatic system to flow fluidly and relieve congestion and symptoms of a sluggish immune system.
9. MassageMassage therapy improves immune function and can relieve symptoms of chronic fatigue and pain. Massage techniques such as connective tissue massage promote the flow and drainage of lymph through the body. Patients having been diagnosed with cancer and those receiving a second diagnosis can greatly benefit from massage therapy.
10. Avoid Tight Fitting GarmentsAvoid tight fitting garments such as underwire bras to prevent any unnecessary restriction on lymphatic vessels. Lymph nodes are highly concentrated around the chest region to drain fluid from breasts, arms, and the chest. Do not constrict the lymphatic flow.
Supporting Your Lymphatic System When Healing From CancerIt is critical for individuals with cancer to boost the health of the lymphatic system and detoxify regularly. Removing toxins and supporting lymphatic flow have been shown to decrease the reoccurrence of cancer. One in 5 individuals who have received treatment from breast cancer will be affected by lymphedema later in life. Will you incorporate these detoxification strategies into your daily lifestyle to improve your lymphatic system today?

Two experts in dermal filler procedures discuss appropriate responses to new label warnings and class-action lawsuits......

Injections have become so commonplace—2.3 million procedures were performed in 2014 according to American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) statistics—consumers could not be faulted for thinking them perfectly safe. Events in 2015 belie that assumption. In May, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sent letters to filler manufacturers suggesting they include the following warning labels on their products:
“Introduction of product into the vasculature may lead to embolization, occlusion of the vessels, ischemia, or infarction. Take extra care when injecting soft tissue fillers, for example inject the product slowly and apply the least amount of pressure necessary. Rare but serious adverse events associated with the intravascular injection of soft tissue fillers in the face have been reported and include temporary or permanent vision impairment, blindness, cerebral ischemia or cerebral hemorrhage.”
“Although rare, serious complications associated with filler injections is a bigger issue than many realize,” says Steven H. Dayan, MD, FACS, clinical assistant professor at the University of Illinois, director of the Chicago Center for Facial Plastic Surgery and founder of DeNova Research in Chicago. “I’m concerned that we are in for more regulations if we fail to respond to these problems. We can no longer afford to be cavalier about possible serious complications.”
At least two major law firms are advertising for clients in class action lawsuits involving patients harmed by facial fillers. Complications are not product specific and occur with hyaluronic acid fillers as well as longer-acting materials.
“If you do enough of these procedures, you will encounter some of these complications. Fortunately they are extremely rare. Blindness, which I would consider the most serious, has happened in only about 100 cases worldwide,” says Wm. Philip Werschler, MD, founding member of Spokane Dermatology Clinic and Werschler Aesthetics in Spokane, Washington. “Your technique can be perfect and you might still inject into the wrong tissue plane, inject too much filler too fast or simply not recognize subtle skin changes that signal necrosis. And, in some cases, symptoms of impending necrosis do not manifest until after the patient leaves the office.”
The highest risk is from injections around the nose, eye and glabellar area. To reduce this risk, Dr. Dayan has switched from needles to cannulae for the vast majority of his dermal filler injections. In addition to a thorough knowledge of anatomy and scrupulous training in injection techniques, there are other things that can help protect your patients and your practice.
“The first line of defense is a consent form with the proper risk information,” says Dr. Werschler. “Be sure the consent form is signed and ask the patient if she has read it and if she has any questions. Second, assemble an emergency kit that contains hyaluronidase, nitropaste, prednisone and oxygen, and make sure everyone knows its location. In case of an acute necrosis, minutes count.”
Dr. Dayan stresses the need for good communication between physicians and staff. “Be sure your entire staff knows the early signs of possible complications and what to do when they see them,” he says.
Signs of necrosis include skin blanching and complaints of excessive pain. “Impending necrosis, especially around the mouth, can look like a fever blister or a beginning infection. On the forehead it has been misdiagnosed as shingles,” says Dr. Werschler. “The patient may call your office hours later complaining of swelling and pain. Untrained staff members could dismiss the complaint as normal and tell the patient to ‘put some ice on it.’ If the problem is impending necrosis, the ice may push the patient immediately into acute necrosis. Train your staff not to dismiss calls complaining of pain and swelling post injection. Have them instruct patients to take aspirin or ibuprofen, use a warm compress to improve blood flow and come in for evaluation. If the patient doesn’t want to come in, ask her to at least take a ‘selfie’ and send it over for immediate inspection.”

Hidden Toxins and Everyday Use

Chemicals in Everyday Products that Cause Breast CancerFebruary 10, 2014 by admin in Health News with 14 CommentsEach day people apply an array of products to their skin, hair, and nails such as lotion, deodorant, nail color, makeup, shampoo, conditioner, and the list goes on. People have different reasons for using each concoction, but, in general, they perform the ritual of using products for cleaning, beautifying, or in order to prevent aging (and oftentimes a combination of all three).

It’s no surprise that people want to have good hygiene and will go to great lengths to keep their skin looking healthy throughout their life. Applying makeup to enhance one’s natural beauty has been a ritual of women in all cultures and throughout all of history. There is nothing inherently wrong in practicing good hygiene, skin care routines, and beauty rituals unless the products used are harboring a dangerous secret.

The types of products used for skin care, hygiene, and beauty have undergone a makeover since the beginning of the industrial age. Pre-industry makeup and skin care products were made of natural materials such as olive oil and castor oil for skin balms, essential oils for fragrance, and different plant materials were used to make stains for the lips or cheeks.

In contrast, modern beauty products are mass-produced, so short cuts and cheaper materials are being used to manufacture them and to preserve them. The products found in the hygiene, skincare, and makeup industries of the modern age all make claims of how they will aid and enhance the body, but what the advertisements omit is that many of these products are made of toxic chemicals. Not all of the ingredients in these products are harmful, but many of the synthetic chemicals used have been linked to diseases such as breast cancer.

Given the fact that there are so many products on the market today and there are very few regulatory standards that cosmetic manufacturing companies must adhere to, it is wise to learn the names of different chemicals that have been tested and linked to breast cancer.

This can be a daunting task because these products contain so many synthetic chemicals and sometimes only small amounts of the natural substances advertised on the label. Learning about some of the common synthetic chemicals in personal care products is a good place to start in order to keep you from slathering on cancer causing products.

Here is a list and short description of seven worrisome ingredients that you should always look out for on labels.

1. Phthalates are found in nail polish and synthetic fragrances. They are also found in many products that list “fragrance” as an ingredient but do not disclose the ingredients in the fragrance used. This is a loophole for manufacturers to avoid listing this harmful ingredient on the labels of their products.

Phthalates have been found to cause birth defects and reproductive issues in animals tested and they are endocrine disrupters which are considered a risk factor for breast cancer. Be careful when purchasing the nail polish brands OPI, Milani, and Nail Tech because they all contain Dibutyl Phthalate, which should be looked for on all labels before purchase.

2. 1,4-dioxane is found in shampoos, body wash, and children’s bath products and is considered to be an anticipated carcinogen by the National Toxicology Program. Carcinogens create free radicals in the body and are linked to cancer. 1,4-dioxane is a petroleum-derived substance and is used as a sudsing agent in these aforementioned products.

3. Ethylene Oxide is found in fragrances and shampoos and has been identified as a mammary carcinogen in animal tests. It is classified as a human carcinogen. Attitude brand shampoos and kid’s body washes contain fragrance as an ingredient, which the Environmental Working Group’s Skindeep website sites as having both 1,4-dioxane and ethylene oxide.

4. Placental Extract is derived from human or animal placentas and is often used in shampoos, conditioners, and grooming aids which are generally made and marketed to women of color. Progesterone has been identified in placental extract. Because progesterone is a hormonal contaminant it may be linked to breast cancer and is currently identified by the National Toxicology Program as a reasonably anticipated carcinogen.

5. Lead is found in over 650 cosmetic products, which include lipsticks, foundation, nail color, sunscreen, as well as whitening toothpaste. Lead is considered a neurotoxin and its use has been linked to developmental problems as well as problems with conceiving and carrying children. Beware of lipsticks made by Maybelline, L’Oreal, Cover Girl and Nars because they are all known to contain lead. This has been proven and stated by the FDA, although the FDA has said they do not think the levels are high enough to cause problems in the body. Yet, this information is contradictory to the fact that lead builds in the body over prolonged use. Therefore, it is wisest to avoid these products and opt for lead-free lipsticks.

6. Aluminum is most commonly found in antiperspirant, though aluminum powder is also found in many cosmetics. It is a metal that mimics estrogen and clogs sweat pores and prohibits detoxing through the sweat pores. It may also cause damage to DNA. Studies have found concentrated amounts of aluminum in the breast tissue where breast cancer has been diagnosed in some patients.

When choosing underarm sweat protection, it is best to choose deodorants rather than antiperspirants because of the fact that aluminum is dangerous and clogs pores. Most antiperspirants contain aluminum and even “natural” brands, such as Tom’s of Maine, contain aluminum.Revlon, Maybelline, and L’Oreal all make eye shadow that contains aluminum. Sally Hansen and Wet n’ Wild brands of nail polish typically contain aluminum, as well as Cover Girl mascara.

7. Parabens are found on the labels of many common products. Typically they are found in lotions, cosmetics, and antiperspirants. Parabens mimic estrogen and may be linked to breast cancer. These chemicals are added to products even though there has never been a study that determines their safety, yet there are studies that show that they are dangerous. When looking for parabens on labels, it’s smart to avoid any products that have words containing the prefixes or suffixes “ethyl,” “butyl,” “methyl,” or “propyl” because they are indicators of parabens in the product.

Sunscreen labels should be scrutinized before determining that they are safe for applying on the skin. Many sunscreens contain some of the chemicals mentioned above as well as titanium dioxide. Titanium dioxide is a known carcinogen, but it is more dangerous when inhaled. This should be taken into consideration when purchasing aerosol sunscreen sprays because the titanium dioxide becomes airborne and may be inhaled by those using it or near it.

The industrialization of cosmetics and skin care products has made it easier to purchase these items and not have to rely on making them, but they also pose a great amount of risk on the user if one does not choose the products wisely. Fortunately, there are options that are not toxic to the body and these are available online and in some stores.

A great resource to get all the information on toxic or nontoxic ingredients is the Environmental Working Group’s database Skindeep, which allows you to search through products to see which toxins may be lurking in your favorite products.

Routine enzyme exfoliation will lead to brighter skin and younger appearance, as it allows for deeper absorption of beneficial ingredients.

Since the top layer of skin is primarily made of dead skin cells, our complexion can appear dull if they are not removed. In addition, as we get older, cell turnover slows down contributing to a dim and even rough look of the skin. Because enzymes work fast, they are a great choice for our clients who seek instant visible results, as the skin will be brighter right after the treatment.

Where Do Enzymes Come From ?

Enzymes in skin care are extracted from multiple fruit and vegetable sources; papaya, pineapple, pumpkin which are most common and stable. They are vitamin rich and packed with antioxidants and all are great option for anti aging.

Bromelain (from Pineapple) is a good choice for clients with sensitive, red or rosacea prone skin because it contains anti-inflammatory properties to ease the symptoms.

Papain (from Papaya) helps with acne by breaking down dead cells inside the pore and releasing trapped congestion underneath the skin.

If hyperpigmentation-often the result of too much sun exposure, then an exfoliator that utilizes Protease (from Pumpkin) will help erase the dark spots. Pumpkin enzymes are small molecules that are able to penetrate deeper than others for anti-aging and skin brightening.

The best time to invest in an enzyme facial is after summer, when the skin needs an extra care to remedy the effects of the increased sun exposure.

Organic Enzyme Peels will surely help you Look Good And Feel Better!

I had such an incredible experience at Nova Spa this past mother's day and have been meaning to write a review for quite some time! I purchased 3 facials for my mother, aunt and myself and we were in absolute heaven! First off, after calling other spas in the area to compare prices, I was amazed at the great deal Nova was offering! And they are organic! As a Nationally Certified Massage Therapist who values a holistic, natural organic lifestyle this was important to me. I couldn't believe the price compared to other regular and organic spas!

The owner, Jeff, was so accommodating, and really went out of his way to try to get us 3 appointments together because it was a special occasion. He even called some of his aestheticians who weren't scheduled to see if they could come in! He took the time to describe in detail the different types of facials they offer and helped me pick the best ones for our special day. Before speaking to him I was leaning towards getting my mom the non-surgical facelift because she is interested in that, but I wanted whatever would be most relaxing and pampering for mother's day itself and Jeff gave me a better recommendation of what would meet our needs that day even though it was less expensive than the facelift. He wasn't just trying to make the biggest profit he could off me and instead placed our needs and experience first. I really appreciated that and could tell that he was a trustworthy person. He gave us a wonderful deal on a package that included nutritious and delicious smoothies (including a vegan one for me, I really appreciated how knowledgeable he and his staff were of nutrition), salads and jumbo shrimp cocktail. He let us have private use of his newly renovated cafe room for 2 of us to spend time in together while one of us would have our facial. It had a fireplace, the ambiance was so soothing and zen, and I was amazed to learn all the gorgeous artistic wood work and counter tops were done by Jeff himself by using fallen trees from his own property! He is clearly an artist who takes a lot of pride in his work and his spa truly reflects that.

The facial itself was the best I've had so far! The music took me to a dreamlike, relaxed place, and the aesthetician (I think her name was Irina, kicking myself for not writing it down!) was kind enough to adjust the volume for me. She really knew her stuff, was apparently trained in NYC where she worked many years. I live in NYC currently and we are spoiled with the numerous choices of spas to go to and it is a very competitive market, and she was definitely one of the best aestheticians I've had anywhere. Her demeanor was nurturing and she did a fantastic job. She was extremely attentive to our individual needs based on our skin type. The products she used were all organic and smelled divine, and I loved that she explained what each one was and what it did (and they of course have all of the products available for purchase for very reasonable prices). The pore extractions were so gentle that I wondered if she was actually unclogging them successfully (I'm used to feeling more pressure and some mild discomfort during that part at other spas), but when I looked in the mirror afterwards it was obvious she had done a stellar job. I couldn't believe it! Her neck and foot massage were wonderful as well (I would know)! It was just the relaxing, therapeutic experience we needed.

We were all amazed at how much younger and more supple our skin looked afterwards! We had plans to go out to a nice dinner and none of us felt the need to wear makeup because our skin was glowing! I had never seen such instant results from a single facial before. I will DEFINITELY be back to Nova the next time I am visiting my mom in CT! She is looking forward to trying to incorporate facials into her life more regularly and although Nova isn't exactly close location-wise she wouldn't consider anywhere else! Definitely check them out!

We spend billions of dollars each year on skin care products that promise the fountain of youth, when in fact, some actually contribute to the aging process. If you read the label of ingredients you may be surprised of what you are truly applying to your skin and how they affect the skin and your overall health.

The human skin is a remarkable organ, the bodies largest, but is often taken for granted. Most people are content with their skin until, dryness, oiliness, a rash or a wrinkle rouses attention. But once you know and understand how our skin functions, you may consider the importance of the skin and the quality of the content of the skin care products you use. Using natural skin care can make a difference.

FACE the facts:

1. An adult's skin comprises between 15 and 20 percent of the total body weight.

2. Each square centimeter has 6 million cells, 5000 sensory points, 100 sweat glands and 15 sebaceous glands.

Your skin is constantly being regenerated. Cells begin in the lower layers of the skin called the dermis, which is supplied with blood vessels and nerve endings. The cell migrates upward until it reaches the bottom portion of the epidermis, which is the outermost skin layer. The cell eventually makes it to the surface then dies and sheds. Two to three billion skin cells are shed daily. The body expends this effort to replace the skin every month because the skin constitutes the first line of defense against dehydration, infection, injuries and temperature extremes. Skin cells can detoxify harmful substances with many of the same enzymatic process the liver uses. The unbroken surface also prevents infectious organisms from penetrating into the systemic circulation. As a gate keeper, the skin absorbs and uses nutrients applied topically. Because your skin can't discriminate, the skin may absorb the synthetic chemicals often present in soaps, lotions, and other "skin care" products, which at best it has no use for and at worst can be toxic and irritating.

The Epidermis

The epidermis is the outer most layer of the skin. It is the first barrier between you and the outside world. The epidermis consists of three types of cells keratinocytes, melanocytes and langerhans cells. Keratinocytes, the cells that make protein keratin, are the predominant type of cells in the epidermis. As they make their way through the process, they lose water, flatten out and move upward. Eventually reaching the surface, and hardening. This layer is called stratum corneum (dead skin cells) which slough off and are replaced with new ones. A pure natural organic skin peel will help this process and keep your skin fresh.

Another significant group of cells in the epidermis are melanocytes, the cells producing melanin, the pigment responsible for skin tone and color. Finally, Lanerhans cells are essentially the front door of the immune system in the epidermis. They prevent unwanted foreign substances from penetrating the skin.

Since the human epidermis is renewed every 15-60 days, proper surface nutrition feeds the cells of the basal layer. Exfoliation will remove dry or damaged skin of the outer layer to allow newer cells to be visable

The condition of your epidermis determines how "fresh" your skin looks and also how well your skin absorbs and holds moisture. Therefore, "feed your face", an organic facial will begin to rejuvenate your skin so you look brighter and are healthier. Continuing a healthy skin care regiment using Organic products will maintain your skins health and your well being.

What Is An Organic Facial

3/4/2013

ORGANIC FACIAL

A facial is a beauty treatment which considered to be one of the most common ways to take care of your skin. As Mae West said, "You are never too old to look younger." The general purpose of most facials are to clean, exfoliate, nourish and moisturize the skin. The success of many facials depends on the products used. There are different kinds of masks used for purposes like deep cleansing, healing acne scars, brightening, healing, and revitalizing. Facial masks have been known since ancient Egypt, as Egyptians payed lots of attention to their outward appearance. Royalty used to apply face masks made of herbs, fruits, and clays. Cleopatra often applied egg white onto her face, helping to smooth the skin. This is said to be the origin of facial masking.

One secret to a youthful skin is to be conscious of what you put on it. Organic facial masks is the preferred and the safest way to rejuvenate the skin. Organic is the "true" natural, it means the products aren't made with synthetic chemicals, preservatives, fragrances, colors or petroleum-based ingredients. It is crucial to use products without synthetic. Nowadays synthetic ingredients seem to perform the same basic function, but they don't offer therapeutic benefits from antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and fatty acids. Make sure to study your facial products and avoid facials that contain the following ingredients:

* Propyl-, butyl- and ethyl-paraben

* Diethanolamine (DEA) and triethanolamine (TEA)

* Diazolidinyl urea and imidazolidinyl urea

* Propylene glycol

* Sodium lauryl/laureth sulfate

* Petrolatum

Nova Spa offers a new natural approach to skin care today, using Organic anti-aging formulas which strengthen, hydrate skin, stimulate cell regeneration, and defend against environmental damage. Saturated with phytochemicals, vitamins, antioxidants, and proteins, the Organic products will create firmer, healthier-looking skin. The effective, scientific combination of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs provide the skin with the nourishment needed to combat signs of aging, such as wrinkles, dryness, dullness, etc. The organic facial will leave you glowing with a sense of how beautiful and renewed You are.

Facials - What is Collagen Infusion Treatment?

3/1/2013

COLLAGEN INFUSION TREATMENT

As we get older, the trillions of cells in our body do too. And like us, they become less resilient and able to weather the stress of everyday life. Our skin especially tells the tale of what's happening throughout our bodies. Collagen makes up approximately 30% of the proteins within the body. These are tough and strong structures found all over the body: in bones, tendons and ligaments. With age, collagen production slows and the cells structures weaken. The skin gets thinner and is easier to damage, hair gets lifeless, skin sags and wrinkles, tendons and ligaments become less elastic, joints get stiff etc.

What does collagen do?

Collagen helps to give strength to various structures of the body and also protects structures like the skin by preventing absorption and spreading of pathogenic substances, environmental toxins, micro - organisms and cancerous cells. Collagen protein is the cement that holds everything together.

Collagen is also present in all the smooth muscle tissues, blood vessels digestive tract, heart, gallbladder, kidneys and bladder holding the cells and tissues together. Collagen is even the major component of the hair and nails.

Where is collagen found?

In nature, collagen is found exclusively in animals, especially in the flesh and connective tissues of mammals. Collagen is a part of the connective tissue that in the skin helps in firmness, suppleness and constant renewal of skin cells. Collagen is vital for skin elasticity.

Ligaments are another type of connective tissue that attach two bones and consequently hold the joints together. Tendons are similar but different type of tissue that attach the muscles to the bones. All of these tissues, the bones, ligaments, tendons and the skeletal muscles themselves, are made up of proteins. One of the most predominant proteins is called collagen.

Collagen is the main component of connective tissue, and is the most abundant protein in mammals, making up about 25% to 35% of the whole-body protein content.

What can we do about it?

At Nova Spa we provide a non surgical SAIAN Collagen Infusion Treatment. SAIAN, pure Collagen Elastin liquid is a unique formula that is a solution of water, marine collagen and elastin, pure and natural. This treatment produces instant dramatic results! Cumulative and long lasting benefits.

SAIAN Pure Collagen Masks are made from freeze-dried collagen fibers, and are formulated to deliver dramatic and long-lasting results. These potent masks are used for superior moisturizing results that plump up the skin, and reduce the appearance of laugh lines, crow’s feet and expression lines. They deeply hydrate and moisturize the skin, as well as stimulate collagen production, and prevent dehydration. A luxurious non-invasive face-lift effect that can only be achieved in a professional treatment. Long lasting results after each application.

Marine Collagen: known as the best source of collagen for human skin. Marine Collagen Silanetriol/Polypeptides is designed to stimulate Type III collagen deep down within the skin. The enhancement comes from a concentration of extrinsic native proteins from marine collagen which is known as the best source of collagen. With its polysaccharides, vitamins and essential sea minerals, it aids in the healing and structuring of connective tissue.

Marine Elastin: helps maintain the suppleness, elasticity and proper nourishment of the skin.

SKIN TYPE:
