Next year, I plan to develop a chemical free CSA for Nova Spa and we can grow some for you! This season, we supplied our juice bar with healthy chemical free beets, carrots kale, spinach, tomatoes, and a variety of other nutritious fruits and veggies. There seems to be a misconception when it comes to organic locally grown or farmers markets. Most people are under the impression that they are chemical free. While it’s great to support our local farmers and businesses, I’ve yet to find a chemical free farm. Don't be uncomfortable asking what toxins they spray, you are going to eat it. You may be surprised to learn they spray the same toxic chemicals as the Industrial farms use.
While I understand, commercial farmers can’t afford to lose cash crops to a bug or fungus, there are proven natural ways to maintain a healthy vibrant garden. As consumers, we have been conditioned to want the perfect apple or the pretty strawberry. In nature, sometimes it’s just not that way. Your apple and strawberry might be smaller or oddly shaped, but its ok… It will be healthier for you, taste better and your body will love you for it.
